Nicole Bukaty's most recent publication 15 Short Walks Perthshire North celebrates the most loved walks around Blair Atholl, Kinloch Rannoch, Pitlochry, Dunkeld, Birnam, Aberfeldy and Kenmore. At the Talk, you will find out more about the book and the process of writing hiking guidebooks. You will also have the opportunity to ask your questions and purchase a signed book to start ticking off the 15 Walks yourself! 11:45 DOORS OPEN Dogs Welcome, Raffle in aid of PADS. Teas & Coffee station for Pitlochry Town Hall fundraising Approx. 1pm (optional) Autumnal Group Walk (weather permitting) Places limited - collect your free ETicket on link.
The book details all the necessary information to complete each walk: distances, timings, maps, refreshment options and other amenities. It explores Perthshire’s fascinating points of interest, narrates the local history and stories, and is accompanied by fun facts and stunning photographs. It is conveniently light to carry. The walks are a great inspiration to discover these beauty spots so close to home, and are enjoyed by adults, children and our four-legged friends.
After the Talk, you are very welcome to join in on Walk 7 from the book with the Author. This 6.5km (4 miles) route takes in some of Pitlochry’s highlights: Moulin Church and village hall, the 13th-century Black Castle ruins, views toward Pitlochry’s soaring Ben Vrackie mountain, oak woods and meadows, the mighty Black Spout waterfall, and two traditional whisky distilleries. The walk takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to complete. It is a fantastic way to meet other locals and start forming walking groups with like-minded people!
For the day, ensure to bring water. Also bring a thermos/flask of a warm drink and any snacks you wish. Note: the walk can be very muddy in places so wear appropriate footwear, and waterproofs will most likely be a must.
Children and dogs are very welcome to the Talk and on the Walk.
This is a free event with the option to purchase £2 raffle tickets to be in with a chance to win a free copy of the book. All proceeds from the raffle will go to PADS (https://padsdogrescue.com/).
Please note that to purchase the book (£9.95) cash or Paypal are preferred.
