Pitlochry's popularity blossomed following Queen Victoria's visit in 1842 and the arrival of the railway in 1863 brought even more visitors and residents. This prompted local leaders to raise funds for a public hall by local subscription. The foundation stone was laid in May 1899 and the Hall officially opened in 1900.
The Public Hall was used primarily as an events venue, and started showing silent films in 1919. Many wonderful memories have been made over the years from the dance hall days of the 1950's to more recent silent discos.
