Pitlochry's popularity grew following a visit by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1842. Arrival of the railway in 1863 and an increase in population later prompted local community leaders to raise funds by public substriction for the construction of a public hall. The foundation stone was laid in May 1899 and the Hall officially opened in 1900.

Primarily used as an events venue, the Hall started showing silent films in 1919. Many memories have been made from the dance hall days of the 1950's and 60's to 21st Century silent discos. 125 years on and the future of our charming Historic Town Hall is at risk. The Pitlochry Town Hall Charity recently formed to take on the challenges ahead, and invite you to help write the next chapter.
